FAQ

What service does the Internet Control Engine (ICE) provide?

ICE is the platform that monitors your child's online activities and then uploads the gathered information onto your family account and sends alerts when anything looks suspicious. It's the new parental control tool that's easy to set up and straightforward to use, whether you're a computer novice or an online expert.

Is monitoring my child's Internet activities the right thing to do?

Let's be honest, many kids don't tell their parents what they do online.

But they are active:

  • They give out personal information to people they don't know.
  • They're stalked by predators in chat rooms and social networking sites.
  • They're cyber-bullied by other kids.
  • They visit web sites that contain content you don't want them to see.
  • They download files that are illegal or harmful to your PC.

It is important for parents to be aware of what their children are doing online and to talk to their kids about appropriate online behavior. ICE offers several resources to help parents along the way.

How do I know if my child engages in inappropriate Internet activity?

If your child engages in inappropriate Internet activity, ICE lets you know by sending an activity report your way. All questionable web searches will appear in the report. If you notice that your child has visited a website you consider to be inappropriate, you can protect them by blocking the site. This prevents visitations in the future.

How do I monitor my child's Internet activity when I'm away from home?

With ICE you can monitor all of your child's Internet activities no matter where you are. By receiving real-time reports via email, you'll be able to react immediately and remotely. There's never any trouble connecting, as long as you're at a computer with Internet access.

How do I block a specific website on my child's computer?

It's easy to protect your child from accessing a website that is inappropriate. All you need to do is provide the URL (website address) that you want to block on your child's computer and it's done. You can block as many websites on your child's computer as you wish.

How do I get started?

You can get started by going to our ICE page. From there you can set up your family account, create your children's profiles, and adjust the unique settings for each child.

If you already have an ICE Account, you may already be registered. To find out, simply go to the ICE page, and enter the email address and password for you ICE Account.

How should I talk to my kids about Internet safety?

Installing ICE is a great way to open a dialogue about online safety. You can talk about different settings, which sites are off-limits, and who it's safe to chat with. ICE lets you follow everything your children are doing online, so you can learn more about their web habits. See something you don't like? Talk to them about it.

Does ICE work with Mac or PC?

Either is fine. To begin your ICE account, all you need is a PC or Mac and Internet access.
